Drinking is an emotional thing. It joggles you out of the standardism of everyday life, out of everything being the same. It yanks you out of your body and your mind and throws you against the wall. I have the feeling that drinking is a form of suicide where you’re allowed to return to life and begin all over the next day. It’s like killing yourself, and then you’re reborn. I guess I’ve lived about ten or fifteen thousand lives now.

Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.

I think it’s good that people keep trying,
that they talk things out.
they’re not like you.
the moment something goes
wrong you walk right out the door, you won’t talk,
you’re ready to dump
everything
forever
that they talk things out.
they’re not like you.
the moment something goes
wrong you walk right out the door, you won’t talk,
you’re ready to dump
everything
forever
